Puusta piiraaseen - From tree to the pie

Viime päiviin on mahtunut sekä auringonpaistetta että sadetta. Pääasiassa sadetta, mutta on niistä kauniin kuulaista syyspäivistäkin saatu nauttia. On muutenkin mukavaa päästä ihailemaan kaikkia ruskan sävyjä, vaikkakin kaikki nuo värikkäät lehdet kyllä putoilevat puista jo uhkaavalla vauhdilla...

We have had some sunshine and rain during this ongoing week. Mainly rain, but we have also enjoyed that crisp fall weather. It's also nice to be able to see all the fall foliage colors, even though all the leaves are falling way too fast...

Mummilan omppupuut ovat saaneet punaposkista satoa.

Grandma's apple trees are filled with bright red apples.

Omppupuun lehdetkin ovat värjäytyneet syksyn sävyihin.

Tyttären pieni kori täyttyi kirpeämmistä omenista, joista päätimme tehdä raikkaan omppupiirakan.

Happamista ompuista olemme tehneet monenlaisia herkkuja. Tämä on ihan tavallinen muropohja-kermaviilitäytteinen omppupiirakka vaniljakastikkeella höystettynä, joita niitäkin on tullut leivottua ja etenkin syötyä ihan liikaa... Vyökin on nimittäin alkanut taas kiristämään. Gulp!

From those sour apples we have made many kinds of goodies. This is a very common apple pie made with sour cream, egg and cinnamon filling accompanied with vanilla sauce. We have baked these and especially eaten these far too many... The belt buckle is starting to feel too tight again. Gulp!
