Luostarinmäki Museum, Turku

Last weekend there was this handicraft themed happening at Luostarinmäki Museum in Turku.

Viime viikonloppuna Luostarinmäen museossa oli kädentaitoteemainen tapahtuma.

Most of the houses were open and you could sense the old time in all of these buildings.

Here this lady is spinning some yarn with an old spinning wheel.

Tässä tehdään lankaa vanhaan tyyliin rukilla kehräten.

And what can be more nostalgic than red pelargoniums.

Mikä onkaan nostalgisempaa kuin punaiset pelargoniat.

And there is just something about all those old wood framed windows with blown glass
that makes me sigh.

Joku noissa puureunusteisissa, puhalletusta lasista tehdyissä ikkunoissakin jaksaa aina ihastuttaa.

The guides where dressed like they used to do in the good old days.

Museon oppaat olivat pukeutuneet kuin vanhaan hyvään aikaan.

So simple yet beautiful can an old time sauna or bathing area be.

Silversmith at his work.

Hopeaseppä työnsä äärellä.

At the museum area and in these old buildings you could also find a painter's and basket maker's studios.

There was also clocksmith's workspace in one of the houses where you could see all sorts
of clocks and watches from the old times.

And the light is so pretty inside all these old houses.

This is the style houses were built here in Finland in the past.

Vanhaa suomalaista rakennustyyliä.

This lovely fellow was making some beautiful items out of birchbark.

Tämä mukava miekkonen teki upeita töitä tuohesta.

And here you could be introduced to the old time printing techniques.

Ja täällä saattoi tutustua vanhan ajan painotekniikoihin.

There is something about old wooden furniture and that quite simple style they used to have that intriques me.

Joku noissa vanhoissa puuhuonekaluissa ja melko yksinkertaisessa tyylissä kiehtoo minua.

Here you were able to see how to make e.g. silk tassels. And boy she had fun when I
asked her to be in the photograph :-)

Luostarinmäki is a wonderful place where you can go with your whole family.

Luostarinmäki on kyllä ihana paikka, jonne kannattaa suunnata vaikka koko perheellä.
